Improvements Underway for Beach Walkway to Begin in June
Improvements to the public access beach walkway and the riprap between San Onofre State Beach to the north and to the south of SONGS will begin early this summer.
Work is anticipated to start the first week of June and includes demolition and repairs to the pedestrian walkway and retaining wall between points A and D as shown below. Additionally, the surrounding riprap will be reinforced. Please be advised that heavy equipment will be utilized throughout the project.
Work is scheduled to wrap up by the end of the year. Note that the adjacent seawall remains in good condition and is not within the scope of this project.
Efforts will be made to minimize closure of the walkway during this time. However, when necessary, signage will be posted in advance at the entrance to both the State Park and the walkway.
