Environmental Monitoring Around San Onofre Nuclear Plant
In addition to air monitors that are located within and along the perimeter of the San Onofre plant, SCE also monitors ocean water, ocean bottom sediment, shoreline sediment, kelp and marine species at several beach locations north and south of the plant to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
Below is an interactive map that provides the monitoring locations and frequency of sampling. The table below the map provides the latest sampling reports.
All samplings fall within the NRC limit guidelines. For a full analysis of the findings, please refer to the 2019 Annual Radioactive Effluent Release Report and the 2019 SONGS Radiation Environmental Operating Report.
