NRC to Host Public Meeting on San Onofre Nuclear Plant Decommissioning
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking public comment on the decommissioning plan submitted by Southern California Edison (SCE) for the San Onofre nuclear plant near San Clemente.

The NRC will describe the decommissioning process, including San Onfore’s licensing transition from operating to decommissioning status, decommissioning inspections and spent fuel management issues. SCE will present plans for decommissioning San Onofre. The NRC will take public comment at the meeting or via online submissions.
SCE announced in June 2013 that it would retire San Onofre Units 2 and 3 and begin preparations to decommission the facility. SCE has established core principles of safety, stewardship and engagement to guide decommissioning. For more information about SCE, visit www.SCE.com.
