San Onofre Community Engagement Panel Meeting to Focus on Dismantlement Progress

ROSEMEAD, Calif., Aug. 4, 2022 — The San Onofre Community Engagement Panel (CEP) will receive a briefing Aug. 11 on dismantlement progress to date from Southern California Edison’s decommissioning contractor. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and take place via Microsoft Teams video conference.

Now in the third year of dismantling the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, SONGS Decommissioning Solutions is focusing on areas inside the containment domes and outside of them, such as the turbine buildings located adjacent to the ocean. Heavy excavators are demolishing the steel beams and girders, working toward the center of the structure.
